Department of Prosthodontics & Crown and Bridge
Infrastructure and the Activities of the Department :-

The department is currently located in first floor of the Dental college building. The department caters to the needs of the people who have lost their teeth and / or the oro-facial structures either due to disease or trauma by artificial substitutes.

The clinical work of the department is broadly managed under the following divisions:

Complete Denture prosthodontics.

Removable Partial Denture Prosthodontics.

Fixed Partial Denture Prosthodontics.

Maxillo- Facial Prosthodontics.

Implant Prosthodontics.

Under Graduate Teaching:-

The BDS course is of 5 years duration and the student learning activities of Prosthodontics and Dental Materials is spread across all the five years. The student spends about 5000 hours of time in the dental college learning about 17 subjects of which 1500 hours are spent in the department and take up examinations in thee subjects namely:-

Dental Materials

Pre-Clinical Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics

Post Graduate Teaching:-

The post graduate teaching programme i.e. Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics began in the year 2003 with three admissions per year and so far fourteen students has successfully completed the course.

The Department has also started P.G.Diploma course from the academic year 2009-2010, with one admission every year.

All under the supervision of qualified Staff

Research Programmes:-

All the post-graduate students should take up research projects as a part of their course and so far fourteen research projects have been completed and another six projects are in progress.

Surveys:-

Surveys are also taken up every year to provide an opportunity for the Post -Graduate students to learn from such community projects.

Research Programmes:-

The department of Prosthodontics has been recognized by RGUHS for carrying out research programmes for PhD.

Staff of the Department:-

There are twelve teaching staff members, To include three Professors, two Readers, four Lecturers with MDS qualification, a Lecturer with MSC in Dental materials and two Lecturers with BDS qualification ,six Dental- mechanics, three Nursing staff members, and two Attenders in the Department.
