ADMISSION TO BDS COURSE

Eligibilty For Admission

  1. The candidates should have passed the two years PUC examination conducted by the PU. Education Board, Karnataka State, with English & Physics, Chemistry & Biology as optional subjects or any other examination recognized as equivalent to it by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
     
    OR
     
    The candidates should have passed the B.Sc. Examination of Bangalore University or any other statutory University provided. He/She has passed the B.Sc examination not less than three of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology.
     
  2. The candidates should have secured not less than 50% of the total marks in English and Science subjects taken altogether at the qualifying examination.
     
  3. The candidates should have completed seventeen years of age as on 31st December of the year admission.
     
  4. The foreign students desiring admissions should produce:
     
    i) A no objection certificate from the department of Health and Family welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
    ii) An eligibility certificate from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
    iii) Student Visa.
    iv) Residential Certificate.

     
  5. The selection is based on the Common entrance test (CET) conducted once a year by the Karnataka Government for all the students from the state and country seeking admission into the course.
     
  6. Among the total number of seats available 15% are filled directly by the Management (N.R.I. Quota), the rest are divided into merit quota (50%) Payment (Karnataka and non Karnataka) quota (35%) and are allotted by the Govt. of Karnataka based on the ranking obtained at the C.E.T.Examination.
     
  7. Individual candidates should furnish the following documents at the time of admission:

    - Marks list of S.S.L.c.& P.U.C. Age proof certificate.
    - Address proof Nationality certificate.
    - Transfer certificate.
    - Residential Certificate.
    - Migration certificate from the former University or the Board Eligibility certificate from Rajiv Gandhi of Health science.
    - Conduct certificate.
    - Medical fitness certificate from Government Medical Officer.
    - Passport size colour photograph 4 nos.
ADMISSION TO MDS COURSE

Eligibilty For Admission

A CANDIDATE FOR THE Admission TO THE MDS Course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have a degree of BDS from a Indian university recognized by the Dental council of India. The duration of the course is three years consisting of six terms. The academic term for the MDS course will start from 1st September of every year.

To be eligible for MDS course, a candidate should have passed BDS course from a recognized college and should have completed one years housemanship as on 30th May of the year.

At present the MDS course is offered by the college in the following specialities:

  1. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
  2. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  3. Orthodontics.
  4. Oral Pathology and Microbiology.
  5. Oral Medicine.
  6. Community Dentistry.
  7. Prosthodontics.
  8. Periodontics.
  9. Pedodontics.

Applications for the admission to the MDS course will be called for in the month of June every year. Candidates should contact the Chairman, Governing Council, V.S. Dental College for details about admission to the MDS course.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The students admitted to the Dental College shall observe the following code of conduct.

  1. The students should conduct themselves in an exemplary manner that shall be a model for other students.
  2. All students should strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the institute. Students who deliberately break these rules will be expelled from the Institute.
  3. The students should be present during the working hours from 9:00 am to 4 pm and sincerely apply themselves to studies.
  4. The students shall attend the classes regularly and punctually. A minimum attendance of 80% in each subject is required as a condition of eligibility for appearing for the university examinations.
  5. All students shall attend the institute in dress code befitting dental students.
  6. The students will always bring with them prescribed books and instruments for the classes. They shall handle laboratory equipment carefully.
  7. The students while working in the hospital and community should be polite to their patients and conduct themselves in manner, which will uphold the reputation of the institution and the dental profession.
  8. As per the university regulation periodic internal assessment will be held. The marks allotted to these exams are 20% of the total marks of the university examinations. Hence the students shall attend these examinations and should obtain 50% of the marks to be eligible to appear for the university examination.
  9. The students will not participate in strikes and violent demonstrations; which will be determine to the cause of medical education.
